Hello and welcome to Fair Winds Llama Ranch. We have had a lot of changes since last year. We've more than doubled our herd of animals by adding a small breeding herd of alpacas. I have a little fear of the shearing season with so many animals needing haircuts. However, with the addition of so many animals, we are being a lot more aggressive at processing their fur. We should have some beautiful yarns and roving available for the spinners and knitters out there.
As you can tell from the picture above, I used to be a helicopter pilot. When the picture was taken, I was deployed with the Montana Army National Guard to Afghanistan as a CH-47D maintenance pilot. I have since completed my military career after putting in 20 years of service as a helicopter pilot in both the Marines and the Montana National Guard.
In 2016, we purchased the Star Castle Fiber Mill in Oregon and moved it to Helena. It has been an arduous process to get it up and running, but think we have turned the corner on some early issues and are now producing beautiful batts, roving, and yarns from our own animals and from customers throughout the NW United States.
I look forward to seeing you at our Helena Farmer's Market booth this year. Come by and get to know us and what we do. We love talking about the animals and all the exciting goings-on.
